Alicia Dawn, The natural DIVA!
Alicia Dawn is a beautiful model, she never wears makeup and her natural look is stunning.
She lives in NC and permanently travels to the DMV area.
I had the opportunity to work with her at 3MI with Josh Triggs, amazing photographer with a great studio.
While celebrities may have to be in full glam during their red carpet appearances and photo shoots, many choose not to wear makeup during their own downtime, some models don’t wear any makeup and that is amazing.
From singers to actresses and everything in-between, there are tons of female celebs out there who choose to be makeup-free. Personally, I had to write something about it because I find it wonderful. As a woman, you don’t have to be defined by makeup.
I’m a deep believer in the idea that beauty is more than just symmetry and that is something you can appreciate on this natural diva.
Going makeup-free shows that you are just as confident with who you are as a woman as you are with makeup.
When celebrities post selfies with no makeup, it just shows that they too are more than just an image.
Faces and emotions while posing nude, add that touch of fun to the capture.
In this capture miss Dawn wanted to show a playful image, she managed to present a very cute smile worth the capture, gracious and fun. I can say she hit the right note with the posing on this image.
Let’s define a little bit the meaning of words before we use the right adjectives with these images.
The words sensual and sensuous are often interchanged even by modern writers because they both derive from the root sens-, meaning “to arouse the senses.” .
However, these two are used in different contexts traditionally.
This post will highlight the distinction between sensual and sensuous.
The word sensual is used as an adjective which means:
“relating to or consisting in the gratification of the senses or the indulgence of appetite”, or “of or arousing gratification of the senses”.
The term sensuous is an adjective, meaning:
“relating to or affecting the senses rather than the intellect”, “characterized by sense impressions or imagery aimed at the senses”, or “highly susceptible to influence through the senses”.
What do I think?
I enjoy producing images in Black and White and for this, I am constantly reading about tips and ideas on the use of light, I came across an article from Barry Kidd .
He is a photographer from Maryland who has a nice tutorial on high and low contrast black and white nudity, explaining how to lit a model for both scenarios.
His photography work shows that the model not necessarily needs to be naked to capture that nude body shape.
In my own work lately, I’ve been experimenting with a lot of new ideas. Trying to work more simply, using available light conditions, resourcing on the lenses and equipment to achieve good results.
I like some of the results, but on the other hand, I feel I am separating myself from one of my basic qualities which is sharp images and well-lit pictures.
This is the right time to do all these testings while I define my photography. Regardless of what I like, there is always a style for each condition and model and there is no general rule that fits all,.
You have to modify things accordingly to your conditions as you evolve in your own photography.
Working with Miss Alicia Dawn, The Natural Diva, was a great experience and I hope to work with her in the near future.
